ANKARA, May 14 (Alliance News): A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast near Datça District in Türkiye’s southwestern Muğla Province on Tuesday, according to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
The tremor occurred at a depth of 20.41 kilometers beneath the seabed, with its epicenter located approximately 155 kilometers from Datça. Authorities confirmed that no casualties or structural damage have been reported so far.
Emergency response teams continue to monitor the situation, although there is no immediate threat of tsunami or further aftershocks, AFAD added.
The quake was felt mildly in some coastal areas but did not cause panic among residents. Türkiye lies in one of the world’s most active seismic zones, and the government maintains ongoing preparedness for such natural events.
