ISLAMABAD, Nov 5 (Alliance News): Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani called on the media to help raise public awareness about the services provided by federal Ombudsmen offices, which have been instrumental in addressing various grievances and are expected to resolve many more in the coming months.
Gilani highlighted the Ombudsmen’s key role during a session on representations against federal Ombudsman orders, attended by Justice (R) Irfan Qadir, the President’s nominee for handling these cases.
The acting president noted that, in the last six months, the President of Pakistan, through his nominee, resolved hundreds of cases, offering relief to widows, persons with disabilities, minorities, and individuals from underprivileged areas who faced issues due to administrative malpractice.
“Such prompt disposal of cases is unprecedented,” Gilani commented, pointing to significant relief provided to citizens, including overseas Pakistanis, in sectors like banking and taxation.
He emphasized that the federal Ombudsmen institutions, including the President’s Apex forum, continue to deliver justice to the public, with over 200,000 cases addressed annually.
The Ombudsmen’s efforts extend to various federal departments, autonomous bodies, and organizations of national importance, providing a crucial mechanism for public redress against maladministration.
