Buna-Raast Project: A New Era for Digital Transactions and Foreign Remittances in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22 (Alliance News): Chairperson of the Arab Monetary Fund Dr. Fahad M Alturki met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday to discuss mutual concerns and cooperation. During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the long-standing brotherly relations between Pakistan and Arab countries, which have only strengthened over time.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the government’s focus on legal measures to streamline foreign remittances into Pakistan. He stressed the importance of digitizing the e-commerce sector and the broader economy, noting that many Pakistanis residing in Gulf countries contribute significantly to the nation’s foreign remittances.

The Prime Minister welcomed the Buna-Raast connectivity project as a significant development. He explained that this initiative would enhance the efficiency of digital transactions, facilitate the regular flow of foreign exchange reserves, and improve the digital governance system in Pakistan.

Dr. Fahad M Alturki noted that Pakistan is the first country outside the Arab world to connect with the Arab Monetary Fund’s Buna project. He expressed optimism that the Buna-Raast collaboration would foster economic growth on both sides and strengthen financial ties.
