Rawalpindi, July 8 ( Alliance News):The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Revenue Mobilisation Investment and Trade (ReMIT), and Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) held a consultative session to discuss the need for a comprehensive National Industry Policy.
The participants emphasized the importance of effective implementation frameworks, realistic regulation, and government-academia-industry collaborations to achieve sustainable growth.
The RCCI president, Saqib Rafique, stressed the need for indigenous solutions to manage imports and consistent policy implementation. Hamza Sarosh, Senior Vice President, RCCI, highlighted the impact of high tax slabs and over-regulation on the industry. Umar Bhatti, Industrial Policy Consultant, SDPI, presented a detailed analysis of Pakistan’s economy and export sector, emphasizing the need for export diversification, product value addition, and modern technology.
Senator Mian Ateeq Shaikh emphasized the importance of trust-building with foreign investors and modernizing policy and governance. Kashif Shabbir, former President RCCI, stressed the need for improved macroeconomic policies, reduced regulatory role, and enhanced finances for industrial growth.
The participants also highlighted the challenges of debt restructuring, access to finance, and the need for industrial-academia collaboration and a one-window policy for promoting exports and industry.”
