CHENGDU, Aug 30 (Alliance News): The Chengdu International Railway Port, located in the Qingbaijiang District of Chengdu, spanning 31.7 square kilometers, has emerged as a crucial hub in global trade and diplomacy.
As the starting point for the China Railway Express, the port has gained recognition as a free trade zone, a national economic and technological development zone, a comprehensive bonded zone, and a national logistics hub.
Journalists were briefed on the port’s various pavilions and free trade zone, highlighting its strategic role in global trade and international cooperation.
A delegation of leading international media organizations from countries including Pakistan, Iraq, Nepal, Turkey, Nigeria, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, and Sweden recently visited the port.
They were informed that the port houses Sichuan’s only railway freight-oriented national port, facilitating international trade and supervising imports of whole vehicles, meat, and grain.
Key functional projects like the container sharing center, multimodal transportation center, and the newly added international container functional zone at the Chengxiang Station have been completed and are now operational.
The Chengdu International Railway Port has established extensive international railway and rail-sea intermodal routes, connecting Chengdu to Europe in the west, Mongolia and Russia in the north, Japan and South Korea in the east, and ASEAN countries in the south. These connections link Chengdu with over 110 cities worldwide, making the port the largest and most stable transportation hub within the China Railway Express network.
Focusing on three main industries—international supply chain, international trade, and intelligent manufacturing—the port has attracted nearly 200 major projects worth over RMB 100 billion. Leading companies such as SF Express, Yuhu (Hong Kong), Hema Fresh, and TCL have set up operations here.
Over 80% of China’s top 50 domestic supply chain management enterprises are now based at the port, reinforcing its position as a core area for the international supply chain economy under the Belt and Road Initiative.
At the heart of the Chengdu International Railway Port lies the Chengdu-Eurasia National (Commodity) Pavilion, a vital platform for Eurasian trade and economic exchanges. Covering 107 mu with a building area of approximately 34,000 square meters, the pavilion hosts 34 national pavilions, including those from Italy, France, the Netherlands, and Greece.
As an international immersive experience cluster, the pavilion showcases the cultural and economic attributes of Europe, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and other regions, fostering deep cooperation between Chengdu and countries along the Belt and Road in logistics, trade, industry, urban development, and culture.
