China and Pakistan Sign Landmark Leather Industry Cooperation Agreement

Islamabad, Sep 12 (Alliance News): In a significant development for Sino-Pakistani industrial relations, the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) and the Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) have signed a memorandum of cooperation at the All China Leather Exhibition in Shanghai. This agreement marks the first formal collaboration between the two organizations.

Under the memorandum, CLIA and PTA will enhance their bilateral ties by exchanging trade delegations, boosting enterprise cooperation, and participating in leather industry expos.

The partnership aims to leverage China’s advanced technologies to improve Pakistan’s leather processing and product quality while benefiting from Pakistan’s abundant raw materials and low labor costs.

The leather industry is a major contributor to Pakistan’s economy, generating significant foreign exchange.

The cooperation with China is expected to strengthen this sector further. Recently, interactions between the two countries in this industry have intensified, including the China-Pakistan Footwear B2B Meeting and the China-Pakistan Footwear Industry Expo held in Lahore in August.

Additionally, a Chinese delegation from Guangdong’s footwear sector visited Pakistan to explore future collaborations.
