CICA Secretary-General Visits Pakistan, Highlights Role in Regional Peace and Security

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22 (Alliance News): Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Ambassador Kairat Sarybay, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the PM House on Thursday.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining international peace and security, particularly as it prepares to serve as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2025-26. He highlighted Pakistan’s eagerness to play a proactive role in this capacity.

The Prime Minister also underscored Pakistan’s strong desire to enhance regional connectivity and praised CICA’s ongoing efforts to facilitate this goal.

He reiterated Pakistan’s support for CICA’s core mission of fostering regional cooperation and promoting peace, security, and stability in Asia through confidence-building measures.

In response, Secretary-General Sarybay updated the Prime Minister on CICA’s current activities and initiatives, as well as his vision for the organization’s future.

He commended Pakistan’s active and constructive role within CICA and expressed optimism for continued close cooperation between the two parties.
