Islamabad, Oct 2 (Alliance News): Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, and Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, convened on Wednesday to explore opportunities for enhancing youth exchanges and promoting bilateral cooperation.
During a meeting focused on fostering people-to-people relations, Ambassador Dr. Jemal and Rana Mashhood discussed strategies for empowering youth through education and skills training.
They highlighted the importance of equipping young populations in both Ethiopia and Pakistan with modern technological skills, including expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain, to build a productive workforce vital for economic growth.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal emphasized the potential for collaborative efforts between the two nations to share experiences and best practices in youth empowerment. He briefed Rana Mashhood on Ethiopia’s “Home-Grown Economic Reforms 2.0,” which aims to address macroeconomic challenges, enhance productivity, and attract foreign investment.
Highlighting Africa’s potential in the IT services sector, Dr. Jemal encouraged Pakistani entrepreneurs to participate in the Single Country Exhibition set for January 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He also underscored the significance of Ethiopian Airlines’ operations in Karachi, which have strengthened both people-to-people and business-to-business connections between the two countries.
Rana Mashhood commended Ethiopian Airlines for improving connectivity between Pakistan and Africa, a continent of 1.4 billion people.
He praised Ethiopia’s socio-economic advancements under Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in initiatives aimed at youth empowerment.
