ISLAMABAD, Sept 6 (Alliance News): A 4-member delegation from Google, led by Scott Beaumont, President of the APAC region, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday.
The discussion focused on advancing Pakistan’s digital economy and Google’s future investments in the country.
Prime Minister Sharif welcomed the delegation and outlined Pakistan’s ambitions to achieve $25 billion in exports over the next five years.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to training youth, improving IT infrastructure, and enhancing the regulatory environment to drive digital transformation.
The Prime Minister praised Google for its impactful contributions to Pakistan’s digital landscape, noting that the company has facilitated nearly 1 million job opportunities for Pakistani youth in 2023 alone.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration with tech giants like Google to further these efforts.
Scott Beaumont outlined Google’s plans to increase its investment in Pakistan, focusing on supporting youth skills training and expanding the company’s presence in the country. He announced that by 2026, Google plans to manufacture 500,000 Chromebooks in Pakistan, which is expected to revolutionize the IT industry in the country.
