Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with US INL Delegation

ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, met with a delegation from the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) at the Ministry of Interior on Friday.
The delegation included US Deputy Ambassador Natalie Baker, Country Director INL Lynn Nelson, Police Advisor Ed Preston, and Police Program Specialist Faisal Gill.

During the meeting, Minister Naqvi expressed appreciation for INL’s exceptional cooperation in enhancing the capacity of Pakistan’s police and paramilitary forces.

He emphasized the importance of further strengthening and sustaining this partnership, with a focus on prioritizing high-impact projects through a comprehensive master plan.

The Minister highlighted the need to transform the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) into a dynamic organization, similar to the FBI, with INL’s support.

This, he said, would be crucial in combating organized crime in Pakistan.

He also stressed the importance of restructuring the National Police Academy to meet international standards and modernizing the Frontier Constabulary to enhance its role as a reserve police force across the country.

In terms of anti-narcotics efforts, Naqvi reiterated that all possible measures were being taken to curb the issue.

US Deputy Ambassador Natalie Baker expressed condolences over recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and highlighted the long-standing cooperation between INL and the Pakistani government, which spans over 42 years.

She emphasized that Pakistan’s security is integral to US security, and both sides expressed the desire to strengthen this partnership further.
