Pakistan Invites Chinese Investment in Energy Sector at Silk Road Expo

ISLAMABAD, Sep 20 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik on Friday invited Chinese enterprises, particularly those from Shaanxi province, to invest in Pakistan’s energy and petroleum sectors.

Speaking at the China (Shaanxi)-Pakistan Conference for Economic and Trade Cooperation during the 8th Silk Road International Expo in Xi’an, he highlighted the interest of Pakistani companies in collaborating through investment, joint ventures, and technology transfer.

Dr. Malik emphasized that attracting foreign direct investment is crucial for Pakistan’s socioeconomic development, particularly in infrastructure and energy production. He reiterated the importance of enhancing B2B linkages across various sectors, including mining, petroleum, energy, and technology.

“This expo is not just a celebration of trade; it embodies the spirit of cooperation that defines our relationship with China,” he stated, recognizing the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as platforms for global peace and development.

He expressed gratitude to the Chinese government and the Shaanxi provincial government for their partnership and for designating Pakistan as the Guest Country of Honor at the expo. Dr. Malik underscored the significance of Xi’an and Shaanxi as the starting points of the ancient Silk Road, linking historical trade with current economic cooperation.

“Our long-standing friendship is built on mutual trust and benefit. We are committed to strengthening our ironclad relationship with China in energy, economy, and trade,” he concluded, highlighting the central role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in Pakistan’s growth strategy.
