ISLAMABAD, Sept 26 (Alliance News): Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions, which include international terrorism, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, during her weekly media briefing on Thursday.
Baloch expressed deep concern over the escalating security situation in the Middle East, citing Israel’s recent military actions against Lebanon as a serious violation of the UN Charter and international law.
She emphasized that Israel’s “increasing adventurism” has further destabilized the region, urging immediate action from global powers to restore peace.
She condemned Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza, describing it as a “systematic genocidal campaign” against Palestinians, marked by serious violations of international humanitarian law.
Baloch highlighted a recent incident where Israel sent a container of decomposing bodies of 88 Palestinians to Gaza without revealing the identities or circumstances of their deaths, a move that she said violates international norms and worsens the anguish of the victims’ families.
The spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people. Pakistan will continue to provide political, diplomatic, and moral support to Kashmiris in line with UN Security Council Resolutions.
She also referenced Pakistan’s participation in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir, which convened last week during the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly.
Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif briefed the Contact Group about the current situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), emphasizing the importance of resolving the issue in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
