Hong Kong, Sep 13 (Alliance News): Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, emphasized the transformative potential of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at the 9th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong.
The next phase of CPEC aims to evolve into a multidimensional growth corridor, focusing on innovation and inclusiveness.
The first phase had already added 8,000MW of electricity, 800 kilometers of roads, and created significant employment opportunities in Pakistan.
Ambassador Hashmi said that CPEC-II will align with Pakistan’s “5Es” strategy—focusing on exports, digital transformation, climate change, energy, and equity.
He underscored Pakistan’s rapidly growing IT and fintech sectors, inviting Hong Kong-based firms to explore digital banking and blockchain opportunities.
Additionally, he highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to generating 30% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030, urging Hong Kong’s financial institutions to invest in green energy projects.
The ambassador also pointed out the potential for early investment opportunities in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under CPEC, particularly for Hong Kong enterprises in the manufacturing and logistics sectors.
