Pakistan’s Blue Economy Holds Key to National Growth: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12 (Alliance News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized Pakistan’s blue economy as a vital driver for national growth, citing its potential in fisheries, maritime trade, and offshore resource exploration.

Speaking at the International Maritime Business and Finance Conference, Dar highlighted government initiatives to modernize fisheries and the shipbreaking industry through advanced technologies under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

Dar pointed out that Pakistan’s geographical position offers immense opportunities for trade, coastal tourism, aquaculture, and energy.

He underscored efforts to transform ports into efficient regional trade hubs and the government’s commitment to environmental protection in the maritime industry, including working towards low-carbon fuels and green corridors.

IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Antonio Dominguez Velasco praised Pakistan’s potential in shipbuilding, recycling, and workforce development.
