ISLAMABAD, May 15 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday expressed deep gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for their unwavering solidarity with Pakistan during the recent regional tensions in South Asia.
The prime minister conveyed his appreciation while receiving the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Khazar Farhadov, at the Prime Minister’s House.
He said the brotherly support from Azerbaijan reflected the enduring friendship between the two nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Pakistan’s Armed Forces for the successful execution of “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos”, calling it a historic victory. He said the nation was grateful to Allah Almighty for this success.
While reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to peace, he noted that the country had agreed to a ceasefire understanding with India in the spirit of regional stability.
However, he made it clear that Pakistan would resolutely defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any future aggression.
Highlighting the strong bilateral ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, the prime minister expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation.
He said President Aliyev’s visit to Pakistan in July last year had opened new avenues for collaboration in economy, trade, and investment.
Recalling his own visit to Baku in February, Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to transform the fraternal ties into a robust economic partnership.
Ambassador Farhadov congratulated the prime minister and the Pakistani nation on the successful operation and commended Pakistan’s efforts to maintain peace in the region.
He conveyed President Aliyev’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and assured full support in advancing shared goals between the two countries.
