ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (Alliance News): The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) launched a tree plantation drive on Monday as part of the “Plant for Pakistan” program, in celebration of Independence Day.
The campaign was inaugurated by NUML Rector Major General Shahid Mahmood Kayani (Retd), who planted a sapling at the university.
The event was attended by Director General NUML Brig Shahzad Munir, Pro-Rectors, Deans, Directors, and other faculty and staff members.
In his address at the ceremony, Rector Kayani emphasized the university’s commitment to planting as many trees as possible across all its campuses, including the main campus, under the Plant for Pakistan initiative.
He encouraged faculty members and students to actively participate in the campaign to ensure its success.
Kayani highlighted the urgent need to combat global warming by preserving nature and planting more trees, stressing that this effort is crucial for the well-being of future generations.
He called on the youth to take an active role in making Pakistan cleaner and greener, noting that tree planting is not solely the government’s responsibility, but a duty for every Pakistani.
