Heavy Monsoon Showers Expected Across Pakistan:PMD

ISLAMABAD, Aug 08 (Alliance News): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a fresh spell of monsoon rains across the country from August 9 to 12, with occasional breaks. The rains are expected due to the arrival of strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

These rains will affect various regions, with Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, and several districts in Punjab such as Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sialkot expected to receive heavy downpours. Rain and thunderstorms are also forecasted for parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The PMD has warned that the heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods in areas like Murree, Galliyat, and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, as well as urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. The risk of landslides may also increase in hilly regions.

Farmers are advised to plan their activities in light of the weather forecast, while travelers and tourists should exercise caution and adjust their plans accordingly. Authorities have been urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions to prevent any adverse situations.
