ISLAMABAD, Jul 30 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Tuesday, reached out to the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lt. General Inam Haider Malik, instructing immediate relief actions as heavy rains continue to affect various regions of the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of assessing the damages to life and property caused by the downpours. He directed the NDMA to enhance its coordination with provincial disaster management departments, as well as with the disaster management authorities of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit Baltistan.
He specifically instructed the NDMA to prioritize the swift restoration of highways and roads that have been damaged by the rains or landslides, ensuring connectivity is restored as quickly as possible.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister called for the provision of comprehensive healthcare facilities in the rain-affected areas. He stressed the necessity of supplying essential relief items, including medicines and other commodities, to those in need.
Expressing profound sorrow over the loss of lives due to the heavy monsoon rains and subsequent floods, Prime Minister Shehbaz offered prayers for the deceased and extended his sympathies to the grieving families.
He also highlighted the need to provide the best possible medical treatment to those injured in rain-related incidents, ensuring that no effort is spared in aiding the affected populations.
