Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Across Pakistan in the Coming 24 Hours

ISLAMABAD, Jul 24 (Alliance News): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts rain, windstorms, and thundershowers for Punjab, Islamabad, the Pothohar region, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, northeast and south Balochistan, and southeast Sindh over the next 24 hours.

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in parts of northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are affecting upper and central parts of the country, along with a trough of westerly waves.

The PMD has issued warnings for potential flash flooding in local streams and nullahs in areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Malakand, and various other regions. Urban flooding is likely in low-lying areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until July 24. Landslides may disrupt roads in vulnerable hilly areas, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In the past 24 hours, the country experienced hot and humid weather, with rain, windstorms, and thundershowers in isolated areas. Rainfall amounts included 104mm in Sialkot, 98mm in Mandi Bahauddin, and 61mm in Islamabad’s Saidpur. In Sindh, Thar Parker saw up to 32mm of rain, while Kashmir’s Kotli recorded 26mm. The highest temperatures were 47°C in Dalbandin and 46°C in Nokkundi and Sibbi.
