ISLAMABAD, Aug 28 (Alliance News): Captain Shakeel ur Rehman, MBE, a former officer of the Pakistan Army, has been awarded an honorary MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his outstanding services to UK-Pakistan relations.

The award was presented by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott at a ceremony held at the British High Commission in Islamabad.

Captain Rehman joined the British High Commission in 2005 and has since served under seven High Commissioners. Throughout his tenure, he has been responsible for overseeing security during numerous UK Ministerial and Royal visits to Pakistan.

Before his role at the High Commission, Captain Rehman served in the Pakistan Army from September 1989 to May 2002, holding positions such as Company Commander, Staff Captain, and MTO Infantry Battalion.

His military background and leadership skills have been instrumental in his current role, particularly during critical moments such as the 2006 earthquake in Islamabad, where he ensured the safety and support of British High Commission personnel.

Jane Marriott, the British High Commissioner, praised Captain Rehman for his dedication and professionalism, stating, “Captain Rehman has gone above and beyond the call of duty throughout his career. His kindness and positivity make him a delight to work with, and it is wonderful to see his efforts recognized.”

Expressing his gratitude, Captain Rehman said, “I am deeply honored to be recognized by His Majesty King Charles III for my contributions to the British High Commission. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of many, and I am proud to be part of a community striving for excellence.”

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, established by King George V in 1917, honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts, sciences, charitable work, and public service.
