Pakistan and Ethiopia to Strengthen Ties in Trade, Education, and Finance

ISLAMABAD, Aug 1 (Alliance News): Pakistan and Ethiopia agreed on Thursday to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new collaborations in trade, finance, education, and economic reforms, recognizing the mutual benefits of these initiatives.

According to a press release issued by the Finance Ministry, the meeting took place between the Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdula, and Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

The Finance Minister warmly welcomed Ambassador Jemal Beker Abdula and provided an overview of the economic reforms underway in Pakistan.

These reforms are part of a broader plan aimed at achieving economic stability.

He highlighted recent positive developments, including improvements in foreign exchange reserves, reforms in state-owned enterprises, and advancements in the power sector.

International rating agencies have started recognizing Pakistan’s economic stability due to these reforms. The country’s economic outlook has improved, as confirmed by recent Fitch reports, and the government now aims to achieve economic sustainability.

Ambassador Jemal Bekerpraised Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability and shared insights on Ethiopia’s similar approach to economic reforms. He detailed Ethiopia’s initiatives inspired by Pakistan’s experience, particularly in stabilizing its currency and fostering economic resilience.

The discussion also covered potential for increased bilateral trade and financial collaborations to promote mutual prosperity. Ambassador Jemal Beker  proposed educational cooperation, including student exchange and scholarship programs, to provide Ethiopian students with opportunities to study in Pakistan and strengthen educational and cultural ties.

Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb agreed on the importance of deepening ties between the two nations and welcomed the proposed collaborations.
