PM Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Pakistan’s Support for Palestine, Condemns Israeli Actions

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20 (Alliance News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination while strongly condemning Israel’s brutal actions against Palestinians in Gaza.

In a meeting with the outgoing Palestinian Ambassador, Ahmed Jawad A.A. Rabei, who paid a farewell call, the Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over Israel’s actions since October 7, 2023, which have resulted in the tragic deaths of over 40,000 innocent Palestinians, including women and children, and left more than 90,000 injured.

PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to a just and lasting resolution of the Palestine issue through a two-state solution. He emphasized the creation of an independent Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Al Quds as its capital, in line with relevant UN resolutions.

Ambassador Jawad thanked the Prime Minister for Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and for the warm hospitality he received during his five-year tenure in Pakistan. He praised Pakistan’s consistent stance on Palestine and its contributions to international peace efforts in the region.

The ambassador also expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for providing humanitarian assistance and scholarships to Palestinian medical students.

PM Shehbaz wished Ambassador Jawad success in his future endeavors.
