Sri Lankan High Commissioner and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Discuss Release of Imprisoned Nationals and Enhanced Cooperation

ISLAMABAD, July 19 (Alliance News): Sri Lankan High Commissioner Admiral (Retd) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay Gunaratne met with Pakistan’s Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, on Friday to discuss several key issues, including the release of Pakistani nationals currently imprisoned in Sri Lanka.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to take expedited actions to ensure that Pakistani nationals in Sri Lankan jails are released within the next seven days. High Commissioner Gunaratne promised full support in facilitating this process.

Minister Naqvi thanked the High Commissioner for his assistance and emphasized that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the quick return of Pakistani citizens.

In addition to discussing prisoner repatriation, the officials also addressed topics related to anti-narcotics efforts and border security. Naqvi stressed the importance of strengthening mutual relations and enhancing cooperation in these areas.

The High Commissioner underscored the significance of Sri Lanka’s relationship with Pakistan and noted the progress in bilateral ties over time.

This meeting marks a significant step in diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, setting the stage for improved cooperation and increased exchanges between the two nations.
