ISLAMABAD, July 08 (Alliance News): Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nasir Mahmood, announced that the university is offering free education to students from Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and the former FATA regions.
This initiative aims to support the government’s efforts to enroll out-of-school children. AIOU is providing free education up to the matriculation level, setting a precedent in the national initiative.
The university’s autumn semester begins on July 15. The Vice-Chancellor has instructed regional offices to disseminate this information to every household in these regions, enabling out-of-school children to benefit from this facility.
Additionally, AIOU offers fee concessions to students facing financial difficulties and provides free education to prisoners and transgender individuals, empowering them to become productive members of society.
Over 1,200 prisoners have already benefited from the university’s educational programs, aimed at transforming their lives and enabling them to reintegrate into society as positive citizens.
