ISLAMABAD, Aug 08 (Alliance News): Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is preparing to host the 37th annual international conference of the Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) from October 15 to 17, 2024.
The conference will gather over 100 vice-chancellors, rectors, and professors from top open universities across Asia, along with around 250 national education experts and researchers.
The event will also see participation from members of the AAOU’s Executive and General Bodies, underscoring its significance in the field of open and distance learning (ODL). Dr. Zahid Majeed, Director of the Directorate of Academic Planning and Course Production, has been appointed as the Conference Coordinator by AIOU’s Vice-Chancellor.
Reflecting on AIOU’s history, Dr. Majeed highlighted that the university previously hosted the first AAOU conference in 1988 and the second in 2013. In celebration of the university’s Golden Jubilee, Dr. Majeed has been given the task of organizing this important international event.
Preparations are in full swing to ensure the conference’s success. The event will offer a platform for both international and national researchers to present their work, which may be published in AIOU’s research journals.
Attendees can also look forward to poster presentations, lively panel discussions, and key meetings of the AAOU’s Executive and General Bodies.
