Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal Highlights Pakistan’s Resilience at IIU Event

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14 (Alliance News): The Islamic Research Institute of the International Islamic University (IIU) held a flag-hoisting ceremony and a seminar titled “Istehkam-e-Pakistan” on Tuesday at the Faisal Masjid campus as part of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.

The event featured Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Chairman of the Prime Minister Youth Program Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, and IIU Rector Professor Dr. Samina Malik, alongside other university officials, teachers, and staff.

In his speech, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the importance of Independence Day, honoring the sacrifices made by Muslims in the creation of Pakistan. He praised Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s leadership and highlighted Pakistan’s emergence as a nuclear power despite early doubts about its viability.

Ahsan Iqbal also addressed current challenges, expressing confidence in the Pakistani people’s resilience. He emphasized the need for peace, political stability, and continuity in policies for national development and reaffirmed his commitment to tackling unemployment, inflation, and corruption.

Rana Mashood Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the PM Youth Program, urged the nation to learn from past mistakes and uphold the vision of Pakistan’s founders. He praised national hero Arshad Nadeem for his determination and emphasized the government’s dedication to empowering youth.

Rector Dr. Samina Malik spoke about the value of freedom and the importance of unity for national progress. She called for prioritizing education and addressing financial challenges in educational institutions.

The event also included a plantation drive and an exhibition showcasing Pakistan’s history and heritage. A cake-cutting ceremony was held at IIU’s new campus to celebrate Independence Day, attended by university officials and students.
