ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 (Alliance News): Zain-ul Aabideen, a student from the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the International Islamic University (IIU), was honored with the Fast Cables Excellence Award for achieving the highest CGPA.
The award ceremony took place on Tuesday in the university’s council hall, where Acting President Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, along with Ghulam Yaseen Qadri, Regional Business Manager of Fast Cables, presented the award, which included a cash prize of 1 lac rupees.
In addition to the award, Fast Cables offered a job to Zain-ul Aabideen. It was also announced that IIU students would be provided with internship opportunities at Fast Cables to further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.
During the event, both institutions highlighted their commitment to recognizing and supporting high-achieving students. The collaboration between IIU and Fast Cables was formalized through MOUs, which also included a provision of 2 million rupees by Fast Cables to support needy students.
Dr. Muhammad Sarwar emphasized the importance of industry-academia linkage and the need to update curricula in line with societal needs. He expressed optimism that the cooperation between IIU and Fast Cables would lead to more joint ventures aimed at promoting education and preparing skilled graduates who can contribute to the progress of society and the country.
The ceremony was attended by various representatives from Fast Cables, including Afrasiyab Khan, Senior Manager of Business Development, along with key figures from IIU, such as Prof. Dr. Saeed Badshah, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), Ms. Nuzhat Zareen, Director of UAFA, and other university officials.
