Quaid-i-Azam University Marks Independence Day with Tree Plantation Drive

ISLAMABAD, Aug 27 (Alliance News): Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) celebrated Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day with a spirited tree plantation drive at the QAU Botanical Garden.

The event, organized by the QAU Alumni in collaboration with faculty, employees, and PhD scholars, aimed to promote environmental sustainability on campus.

Participants planted a variety of fruit trees across the garden, contributing to a nationwide initiative to plant 10,000 trees. The drive not only celebrated Pakistan’s independence but also reinforced the university’s commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable campus.

Adding to the day’s significance, four fruit orchards were inaugurated, symbolizing QAU’s dedication to environmental stewardship and providing fresh produce for the university community in the future.

During the event, Secretary General of the QAU Alumni Association Founders Group, Murtaza Noor, emphasized the importance of involving students, faculty, and alumni in activities that promote national pride and environmental conservation.

The event concluded with a pledge from participants to continue their efforts in making QAU a model green campus. The tree plantation drive and the inauguration of the orchards mark the beginning of a series of initiatives aimed at ensuring QAU remains a leader in environmental conservation in Pakistan.
