ISLAMABAD, Aug 8 (Alliance News): Federal Minister for Petroleum, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, has reiterated the government’s dedication to improving the lives of Pakistan’s poor, youth, and women. Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Malik emphasized the government’s focus on creating opportunities and fostering a unified vision of “One Pakistan.”
He criticized the Opposition for engaging in negative and divisive politics, noting their lack of constructive proposals for the country’s progress. Dr. Malik stressed that the people of Pakistan have chosen their representatives to address their concerns and solve their problems.
The minister highlighted the success of the government’s economic policies under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reporting a significant decrease in food inflation from 48 percent to 2 percent and overall inflation from 38 percent to 12 percent.
These achievements, he said, are signs that Pakistan is on the path to economic stability. Reducing poverty, controlling inflation, and creating jobs for the youth remain the government’s top priorities.
He also noted that GDP growth in rural areas has reached 6.3 percent, and tax collection has increased by 30 percent. Dr. Malik criticized the Opposition for refusing the opportunity to form the government after the elections and condemned the attacks on military installations on May 9, calling for unity to overcome the current crisis.
In response to a question, he mentioned that Rs 50 billion has been allocated to protect 86 percent of electricity consumers for the next three months.
Despite economic challenges, the government has set aside Rs 600 billion in the federal budget to uplift the poor, with development projects underway, especially in underdeveloped areas, to create job opportunities.
