ISLAMABAD, Aug 21 (Alliance News): The National Assembly Standing Committee on Energy (Petroleum Division) urged immediate action to improve natural gas distribution and reduce line losses through stricter monitoring during its meeting on Wednesday.
Chaired by Syed Mustafa Mehmood, the session included the Federal Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division) and officials from the Ministry, who provided a detailed briefing on their departments’ activities and responsibilities.
They emphasized the need for an uninterrupted and eco-friendly energy supply while addressing the challenges in gas transmission and distribution nationwide.
The Ministry revealed that domestic gas supplies are on the decline, with no significant discoveries by exploration and production companies in recent years, leading to a sharp drop in available indigenous gas.
The committee decided to focus its next meeting on discussing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by public and private oil and gas companies.
The meeting was attended by members including Syed Naveed Qamar, Muhammad Nawaz Khan, Mujahid Ali, Anwar-ul-Haq Chaudhary, Dr. Shezra Mansab Ali Khan Kharal, Gul Asghar Khan, Salahuddin Junejo, Muhammad Moin Aamer Pirzada, Asad Alam Niazi, Mian Khan Bugti, and senior officials from the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division).
