Saudi Arabia Issues Health Advisory for Hajj 2025, Restricts Pilgrimage

ISLAMABAD, Aug 29 (Alliance News): The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has released a health advisory for the 2025 Hajj season, implementing strict guidelines for prospective pilgrims, particularly excluding those with severe medical conditions from participating in the pilgrimage.

According to Muhammad Umar Butt, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, the advisory emphasizes the importance of safeguarding pilgrims’ health in light of the anticipated extreme weather conditions during the Hajj. As a precautionary measure, individuals with serious medical issues will not be permitted to undertake the Hajj.

The advisory specifically bars individuals suffering from severe kidney, heart, lung, liver diseases, and cancer from performing Hajj. Additionally, those diagnosed with dementia or contagious diseases such as tuberculosis, whooping cough, and other similar illnesses will also be excluded.

Furthermore, the health guidelines stipulate that children under 12 years of age and pregnant women will not be allowed to participate in the pilgrimage.

Umar Butt also mentioned that all pilgrims must be vaccinated against meningitis, COVID-19, seasonal influenza, and polio, as mandated by the Saudi authorities. He stressed that only individuals in good health and physically capable of enduring the pilgrimage’s demands would be allowed to undertake the sacred journey.
