Kakar Highlights Pakistan’s Role in SCO Summit 2024

ISLAMABAD, Oct 16 (Alliance News): Former Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, Senator Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering regional connectivity, security, and economic cooperation through the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2024.

Speaking to the media at the Pak-China Friendship Centre during the summit, Kakar highlighted the importance of the multilateral platform for advancing trade and collaboration among member countries.

He noted that the summit provided Pakistan with valuable opportunities for private discussions and meetings with the heads of participating nations, especially China and Russia, to address regional challenges and explore avenues for mutual cooperation.

Kakar also acknowledged India’s role in the South Asia region but stressed that Pakistan’s focus extended beyond bilateral relations. “Our engagement goes beyond just India; we are committed to fostering strong ties with all SCO member states,” he said.

He further underscored the need to revive and activate other regional forums such as SAARC to enhance economic prosperity and connectivity within South Asia.

Drawing parallels to the Western model of cooperation, he pointed out how platforms like the European Union have successfully bolstered trade, economy, and cultural exchanges, urging similar cooperation in the region.
