Islamabad, Oct 2 (Alliance News): Pakistan joined the global scientific community in commemorating the 70th anniversary of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva, showcasing seven decades of groundbreaking achievements in Particle Physics.
A special ceremony held in Geneva saw the participation of 39 national delegations, including a delegation from Pakistan led by Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar, Chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).
During his engagement with high-level representatives, Dr. Anwar emphasized Pakistan’s longstanding collaboration with CERN and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to advancing scientific research and technological innovation through international partnerships.
As the first Associate Member State of CERN from Asia since 2015, Pakistan has significantly contributed to several of CERN’s prominent research projects and its state-of-the-art scientific infrastructure. Key Pakistani organizations and scientific institutions, including PAEC, HMC-3, PINSTECH, NCP, COMSATS, and NUST, actively collaborate with CERN and participate in various experiments.
In addition to the celebrations in Geneva, Pakistan also hosted four events in 2024 to honor CERN’s 70th anniversary and highlight three decades of scientific collaboration with the organization.
As Pakistan continues to contribute to CERN’s groundbreaking scientific endeavors, the nation remains dedicated to advancing Particle Physics and fostering international collaboration for the benefit of humanity.
