ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (Alliance News): Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to utilizing advanced space technologies for national development during the ‘PAKSAT-MM1 Satellite Application Conference’ on Wednesday.
The event celebrated the operationalization of the PAKSAT-MM1 satellite, marking a significant advancement in Pakistan’s communication infrastructure.
Khawaja highlighted that the success of PAKSAT-MM1 is set to revolutionize communication capabilities, significantly expanding internet connectivity to remote areas across the country.
This initiative is a crucial step towards achieving a digitally connected Pakistan, she noted. She also emphasized that digitalization and technological development are essential for socio-economic prosperity.
Additionally, Khawaja announced an improvement in Pakistan’s ranking on the UN’s e-governance development index, moving up fourteen points.
Pakistan is now one of only two Asian countries to advance from the middle to the high tier of digital e-governance, a notable achievement.
Muhammad Yousuf Khan, Chairman of SUPARCO, expressed pride in the successful launch of PAKSAT-MM1 and its role in Pakistan’s digital ambitions.
He emphasized the satellite’s importance for socio-economic development and its contribution to Pakistan’s standing in the global space industry.
Khan invited local industries to collaborate in developing space-related ecosystems and satellite systems.
The conference underscored PAKSAT-MM1’s potential to enhance connectivity, economic growth, and digital inclusion across the country.
The satellite is expected to operate for over 15 years, providing high-speed broadband, VSAT connectivity, and other critical services, showcasing Pakistan’s technological advancements and commitment to a Digital Pakistan.
The event, attended by dignitaries, industrial leaders, and government officials, marked a milestone in Pakistan’s space and digital transformation journey.
