Ahsan Iqbal Reviews Progress on Jinnah Medical Complex, Renamed Jinnah Medical Research Center

ISLAMABAD, Nov 29 (Alliance News): Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, chaired a meeting to review the progress of the Jinnah Medical Complex (JMC) project, now renamed as the Jinnah Medical Research Center, which aims to revolutionize healthcare and research in Islamabad.

Key stakeholders, including Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Bharath, Secretary of National Health Services Prof. Khalid Saeed Akhtar, the CDA chairman, and representatives from Bostan Consultants, participated in the session.

Bostan Consultants presented the project’s master plan, which received committee approval.

Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the importance of incorporating modern designs, eco-friendly principles, and advanced construction techniques such as precast structures for a high-quality outcome.

The Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) will finalize the design by February 2025, with approvals expected by April 2025.

A dedicated Project Management Unit (PMU) led by a skilled project director and supported by a specialized consultant will oversee timely project completion.

To enhance student facilities, the minister directed the inclusion of recreational features such as a gymnasium, sports grounds, and a tennis court.

Separate entrances for emergency patients and ambulances will also improve operational efficiency.

Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that the renamed Jinnah Medical Research Center will focus on advanced medical education, research, and healthcare, setting new benchmarks in Pakistan’s healthcare infrastructure.

“This initiative aligns with the government’s vision to improve healthcare and education, benefitting the people of Pakistan and ensuring a brighter future,” he stated.
