ALGIERS, May 12 (Alliance News): Algeria has welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, calling it a significant step toward lasting peace and stability in South Asia.

The support came during a high-level diplomatic exchange between Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

During the call, Ishaq Dar briefed his Algerian counterpart on the current political and security situation in the Indian subcontinent and emphasized the importance of the ceasefire in reducing tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, dialogue, and restraint to avoid any escalation that could threaten regional stability.

Foreign Minister Attaf praised the agreement and lauded both countries for choosing diplomacy over confrontation.

He emphasized Algeria’s consistent support for peaceful conflict resolution and its belief in mutual understanding as a foundation for sustainable peace.

Attaf also acknowledged the constructive role of international mediators in facilitating the agreement and called it a collective victory for peace and humanity.

He expressed hope that this ceasefire would pave the way for deeper cooperation between India and Pakistan, enabling both nations to resolve their longstanding issues through negotiation rather than hostility.

Attaf reiterated Algeria’s readiness to support all diplomatic efforts that promote reconciliation and long-term cooperation in the region.

The exchange highlighted the importance of international solidarity in addressing regional conflicts and reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to multilateralism, non-interference, and peacebuilding diplomacy.
