ISLAMABAD, Dec 10 (Alliance News): A Civil Judge/Judicial Magistrate in Islamabad (West) on Tuesday granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) a two-day physical remand for five accused, including former APP Manager Accounts Arshad Majeed Chaudhry, in connection with the APP fake appointments case.
The FIA sought remand to investigate allegations of illegal appointments and financial irregularities at the national news agency.
The accused include Arshad Majeed, his son Taimur Arshad, and three others—Saad Yousuf, Qaiser Jawad, and Fawad Khan.
FIA Sub-Inspector Ehtesham Gondal informed the court that Arshad Majeed authorized salaries for 18 employees recruited through forged documents.
The appointments were unapproved by APP’s management, with signatures and records falsified. Initial investigations revealed that some accused were relatives of Arshad Majeed.
The court allowed the FIA’s request, citing the need to recover funds and forged documents. Further hearings will probe the extent of the financial misconduct and identify additional beneficiaries.
