ISLAMABAD, July 18 (Alliance News): Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday urged the nation to unite and work for Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
In his message on Ashura Day, Gilani highlighted the significance of Ashura in Islamic history, remembering Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions’ sacrifices in the Battle of Karbala for the protection of Islamic values.
He emphasized that the battle showcased the determination, bravery, and sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and his followers. These sacrifices, he said, serve as a guiding light for us in all aspects of life.
“By learning from such struggles, we can shape our future and overcome problems more easily,” Gilani added.
He stressed the lesson from Imam Hussain (AS) to stand firm against oppression and injustice, no matter the cost.
Gilani also highlighted the importance of dialogue and understanding between different schools of thought, calling for a renewed commitment to the fundamental principles of Islam: patience, compassion, tolerance, dialogue, and social justice.
“Let us adapt our lives according to the teachings of Imam Hussain (AS) and achieve success in this world and the hereafter,” Gilani said.
He appealed to all Pakistanis to unite and work for the nation’s development and prosperity, praying, “May Allah grant us the ability to learn from the great sacrifices of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions and move forward with strength.”
