LAHORE, Feb 12 (Alliance News): The Culture and Heritage Society of the Civil Services Academy organized a session on human-environment relations featuring renowned architect, conservator, and human geographer Dr. Zahra Hussain.
The event attracted 244 probationary officers and esteemed guests, including former federal secretary Tariq Mehmood, Secretary Archive Muhammad Khan Ranjha, DG PILAC Beenish Sahi, Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Tauqeer Haider, Dr. Farzana from GC University, Ms. Shajjia from COMSATS University, and Dr. Hameed from Punjab University’s Archeology Department.
Dr. Zahra’s talk, titled “Rethinking Human-Environment Relations in the Anthropocene,” examined the intersection of cultural heritage and ecological systems, emphasizing the need for adaptive conservation practices amid environmental changes.
The event also featured “Echoes of the Silk Routes between Mountains and Deserts,” an exhibition curated by Laajverd, showcasing stories and traditions from the Hindu Kush Himalaya and Central Asia, highlighting historical trade and cultural connections.
Reaffirming its commitment to cultural awareness, the Civil Services Academy recently facilitated a heritage exploration activity where officers visited 60 historical sites in Lahore to understand the significance of preservation and promotion of cultural landmarks.
