ISLAMABAD, May 14 (Alliance News): Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday praised Pakistan’s patient and prudent approach to resolving disputes through dialogue and reconciliation, calling it a model of statesmanship.

In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter), Erdogan responded to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s acknowledgment of Turkiye’s peace efforts in South Asia.

“We highly appreciate the prudent, patient policy of the Pakistani state that prioritizes dialogue and reconciliation in resolving disputes,” Erdogan wrote.

The Turkish President emphasized that Ankara places great importance on Pakistan’s peace, stability, and prosperity. He described the brotherhood between the two nations as “a rare blessing,” calling it one of the finest examples of true friendship.

He extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Pakistan and expressed Turkiye’s unwavering solidarity during both good and challenging times.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had thanked Erdogan for his consistent support and role in promoting regional peace. He reaffirmed that Pakistan takes pride in its deep-rooted and resilient ties with Turkiye, which have strengthened further through shared challenges.

During a cabinet meeting chaired by Erdogan on Tuesday, he also welcomed the recently announced ceasefire between Pakistan and India. He urged both countries to avoid further provocations and maintain peace.

“We took a clear stance on the heinous terrorist attack in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the missile strikes targeting Pakistan. While openly supporting the brotherly people of Pakistan, we also made serious efforts to de-escalate tensions,” Erdogan stated.

He expressed hope that the ceasefire will pave the way for resolving longstanding issues, particularly the water dispute between the two nations.
