ISLAMABAD, Dec 5 (Alliance News): Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized the need for inclusive growth while addressing the launch of ESG Sustain, Pakistan’s first sustainability-focused online platform, on Thursday.
He commended the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for promoting digitization and fostering transparency through data-sharing initiatives.
The minister described the ESG platform as a vital tool for companies to share success stories and best practices, enabling collaboration among organizations of all sizes.
He stressed the significance of private sector leadership in driving economic progress, with the government focused on creating a supportive policy framework rather than running businesses.
He pointed out that state-owned enterprises (SOEs) had incurred losses of Rs6 trillion over the last decade.
Aurangzeb also highlighted two critical challenges facing Pakistan: population growth and climate change.
He urged the need for sustainable and inclusive growth, leveraging digital solutions to ensure transparency and accountability while driving progress.
