ISLAMABAD, Oct 25 (Alliance News): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to expedite the license renewal process for Tandoori Junction hotel in F-7 within seven days.
The court also instructed that the hotel remains operational until the renewal is finalized.
Chief Justice Aamer Farooq reviewed a petition challenging the closure of Tandoori Junction, a private hotel situated in the F-7 sector.
Advocate Qaiser Imam represented the petitioner, Javed Asif, while lawyers for the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA), Municipal Corporation Islamabad (MCI), and CDA were present in court.
During the proceedings, Advocate Imam argued that despite submitting a license renewal application, the CDA had delayed its processing.
Chief Justice Farooq ordered the CDA to complete the renewal and submit a report within seven days while allowing the hotel to continue its operations pending the renewal decision.
The Chief Justice criticized the CDA’s handling of the case, highlighting inconsistencies in their actions, which included sealing the hotel and labeling it as illegal.
The court mandated that Tandoori Junction remain open until the next hearing.
The petitioner’s lawyer also raised concerns regarding another hotel, Hill View, claiming it was built without proper approvals under CDA regulations.
He requested the court to order its demolition due to violations of building control rules.
Chief Justice Farooq sought clarification from the CDA regarding the legal grounds for the closure of Tandoori Junction and noted irregularities in the authority’s notices. The hearing was adjourned until further orders.
