ISLAMABAD, Feb 24 (Alliance News): The Islamabad High Court Bar Association has announced its unconditional support for a constitutional petition challenging the seniority of five judges.
The petition questions the seniority of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan, and Justice Saman Rifat Imtiaz.
In its statement, the Bar Association emphasized that the petition is crucial for upholding judicial authority under the Constitution. It also strongly condemned administrative interference in judicial matters, stressing that the independence of the judiciary and the principles of seniority must be upheld.
Additionally, the Bar Association denounced the transfers of Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfaraz Dogar, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, and Justice Muhammad Asif, calling them a violation of Article 200 of the Constitution. It asserted that such transfers undermine judicial independence.
