OIC-COMSTECH, Bangladesh Strengthen Ties in Education and Research

ISLAMABAD, Feb 6 (Alliance News): The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH) and Bangladesh have agreed to enhance collaboration in education and research during a high-profile meeting held in Dhaka on Thursday.

Hosted by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH, the meeting brought together key academic leaders, including Professor Dr. SMA Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), Vice Chancellors from Dhaka University, BUET, Bangladesh Open University, and other leading institutions.

Discussions focused on academic exchange programs, joint research initiatives, faculty development, and capacity-building projects. The UGC Chairman sought COMSTECH’s support to elevate Bangladeshi universities in global rankings, to which Dr. Choudhary assured assistance, including expert visits and knowledge-sharing seminars.

Dr. Choudhary also introduced the “3U1M” educational model, which emphasizes three years of academic teaching followed by one year of industry experience, aiming to bridge the gap between education and real-world challenges.

He invited Bangladeshi higher education leaders to visit COMSTECH headquarters and top universities in Pakistan to foster academic collaboration and strengthen ties among OIC member states.

This meeting marks a significant milestone in advancing Bangladesh’s education sector while contributing to scientific progress and academic excellence across the Muslim world.
