Pakistan Seeks Stronger Ties with ASEAN on ASEAN Day

ISLAMABAD, Aug 8 (Alliance News): On ASEAN Day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).

He expressed a desire for greater collaboration in building a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region.

In his message, Dar encouraged reflection on shared achievements and a renewed commitment to ASEAN’s principles. “Pakistan remains dedicated to ASEAN’s vision and looks forward to contributing to its continued success,” he said.

He congratulated ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn for his outstanding leadership and efforts in advancing the ASEAN agenda.

Dar emphasized that ASEAN Day represents the spirit of unity and cooperation among Southeast Asian nations and expressed pride in celebrating this milestone with ASEAN partners.

Dar praised ASEAN as a model of regional integration and collective progress, noting its impressive achievements in economic development, social cohesion, and diplomacy. He highlighted the significant role ASEAN plays in fostering peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.

Pakistan values its relationship with ASEAN, which is based on mutual respect, non-interference, and constructive engagement.

The country actively participates in ASEAN’s dialogue mechanisms and seeks to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Pakistan’s involvement in the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) further enhances its contribution to regional security and cooperation.
