Pakistan Cracks Down on Foreign SIMs Used in Serious Crimes

ISLAMABAD, Feb 14 (Alliance News): A nationwide crackdown has been launched in Pakistan to curb the use of foreign mobile SIMs in serious crimes, including terrorism, financial fraud, and cyber offenses, according to Additional Director General (DG) Cyber Crime FIA, Waqaruddin Syed.

Speaking at a press conference in the federal capital, he revealed that criminals are increasingly using foreign SIMs—especially British ones—to evade detection.

With the rise of social media, new methods of harassment and cybercrime have emerged, making it easier for criminals to operate anonymously.

These foreign SIMs, widely available in the market and even sold on social media platforms, have been linked to crimes such as child exploitation, financial scams, and terrorism.

Authorities are now actively working to trace and dismantle illegal networks importing and distributing these SIMs.

The FIA has urged the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities related to foreign SIM usage.
