ISLAMABAD, May 14 (Alliance News): Pakistan on Tuesday strongly rejected recent statements made by the Indian Prime Minister, calling them provocative, inflammatory, and reflective of a dangerous narrative aimed at justifying aggression.
In an official statement, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan condemned the remarks as an attempt to fabricate misleading narratives and escalate regional tensions.
“At a time when international efforts are focused on regional peace and stability, such statements represent a dangerous escalation rooted in misinformation, political opportunism, and a blatant disregard for international law,” he said.
Khan emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to the recent ceasefire understanding facilitated by friendly nations and reaffirmed its dedication to regional de-escalation. He dismissed Indian claims that Pakistan sought the ceasefire out of “despair and frustration” as blatant lies.
He also criticized the exploitation of the Pahalgam attack without credible evidence, accusing India of using it to malign Pakistan, justify potential military aggression, and divert attention from internal communal tensions and human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Referring to recent Indian military actions, Khan warned they could trigger a dangerous regional escalation. “Indian aggression set a reckless precedent, dragging the entire region to the brink of disaster,” he said, accusing India of pursuing a revisionist agenda to destabilize South Asia.
Khan rejected India’s efforts to normalize the killing of civilians and irresponsible military provocations, asserting, “Pakistan totally rejects this assertion.”
He reaffirmed that Pakistan, in line with its right to self-defence, had responded in a calibrated and targeted manner against Indian military sites. “Pakistan demonstrated its military capability with precision, a fact that no propaganda can deny,” he said.
Khan also condemned India’s continued violations of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), vowing that Pakistan would take necessary steps to protect its rights under the treaty.
Accusing India of sponsoring terrorism within Pakistan, the spokesperson reminded the world of Pakistan’s sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. He reiterated Pakistan’s consistent support for a peaceful resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute based on UN Security Council resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
Khan also voiced support for past US efforts under President Donald Trump to mediate the Kashmir conflict, which he described as a persistent source of instability in the region.
He concluded by stressing that Pakistan’s pursuit of peace should not be mistaken for weakness. “Pakistan is a sovereign nation with strong institutions and a resilient people.
We will respond with full resolve to any future aggression,” he warned, calling on India to adopt mature leadership and prioritize regional stability over narrow political interests.
