Pakistan Stresses Urgent ECO Reforms at High-Level Committee Meeting

TEHRAN, Feb 3 (Alliance News): Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch represented Pakistan at the High-Level Committee (HLC) meeting on Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) reforms and regional cooperation held in Tehran on Monday.

Addressing the session, she emphasized the need for comprehensive reforms in the ECO, covering financial and budgetary matters, recruitment policies, and overall efficiency of the secretariat.

As a founding member of the organization, Pakistan reaffirmed its strong commitment to regional connectivity and trade.

The Foreign Secretary urged all member states to expedite the implementation of the ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA) to enhance economic integration.

She also underscored the importance of ECO Vision 2025 in boosting intra-regional trade and connectivity, while welcoming Uzbekistan’s proposed Strategic Objectives of Cooperation 2035.

She further stressed that through collective and coordinated efforts, ECO member states can unlock the organization’s true potential for regional economic growth and development.
