ISLAMABAD, Jan 16 (Alliance News): Pakistan on Thursday welcomed the Gaza ceasefire deal reached on Wednesday and called for its immediate and full implementation to ensure stability in the region.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan expressed hope that the truce would pave the way for a permanent ceasefire and enable the scaling up of humanitarian assistance to Palestinians affected by the conflict.
The statement condemned the indiscriminate use of force by Israeli occupation forces, highlighting the unprecedented loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of hundreds of thousands of innocent Palestinians. It also criticized Israel’s expansionist policies for destabilizing the region.
Reiterating Pakistan’s stance on the Palestinian issue, the Foreign Office emphasized support for a just, comprehensive, and durable resolution, leading to the establishment of an independent State of Palestine based on pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
