ISLAMABAD, May 8 (Alliance News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday strongly condemned the unprovoked Indian missile strikes that martyred at least 31 civilians and injured 57 others, vowing that every drop of martyrs’ blood would be avenged.
In a televised address to the nation, the prime minister declared India had “committed a grave mistake” by resorting to aggression and warned New Delhi that it would face the consequences of its actions.
“India forgets that the Pakistani nation has brave sons who defend the motherland with their last drop of blood,” he said.
PM Shehbaz praised the swift response by the Pakistan Air Force, which he said shot down five Indian jets in an hour-long confrontation along the Line of Control (LoC).
“The enemy, though larger in numbers, bowed down in hours after our PAF eagles reduced their jets to ashes,” he noted, likening the action to the legendary bravery of Squadron Leader MM Alam.
He made special mention of seven-year-old Irtaza Abbas, who was martyred after being struck by a splinter in his home, calling him a “tender flower” who attained shahadat. The nation, he said, stands with the families of the martyrs and prays for the swift recovery of the injured.
The prime minister saluted the country’s top military leadership, including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Babar Sidhu, and Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, along with all personnel of the armed forces.
He rejected India’s allegations about Pakistan’s involvement in the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir, calling them baseless. Pakistan, he reminded, had offered an international and transparent investigation, which India refused while violating international laws and norms.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed that Kashmir remains a globally recognised disputed territory under UN Security Council resolutions. “India can take a hundred decisions, but it cannot change the reality,” he asserted.
Highlighting Pakistan’s long battle against terrorism, he said over 90,000 lives have been lost and $152 billion in damages incurred. He emphasized that India’s aggression would not deter Pakistan from its mission to eliminate terrorism.
“Our sovereignty is non-negotiable,” the PM concluded, pledging that the people and armed forces of Pakistan stand united in defending the nation against any threat.
